As the vanguard forum of international cinematic achievement in the Asia-Pacific region, the Hawai‘i International Film Festival (HIFF) endeavors to recognize new and emerging talent, promote career development and original collaborations through innovative education programs, and facilitate dynamic cultural exchange through the cinema arts. Now celebrating its 44th year, HIFF has earned the distinction of being one of the nation’s primary sources for the discovery and exhibition of Asian-Pacific feature films, documentaries, and shorts. HIFF Education Programs offers Hawai‘i’s youth the opportunity to gain insights into different cultures, universal human experiences, and the hard work that goes into conveying stories through film and media. HIFF aspires to use the HIFF Education Programs as a platform to facilitate local leadership and advocacy for the arts by providing schools free resources and increasing awareness of the arts through educational programs that advance several educational goals: - Expand participants’ knowledge about filmmaking and the media industry - Increase awareness of educational and career opportunities in the media field - Motivate students in their media-related class work - Heighten appreciation of film as an art form - Nurture cross-cultural understanding and global perspectives
